Eric Carle week, and our first field trip

This week we were lucky enough to go to the local theater downtown for an Eric Carle play! It featured three Eric Carle stories, depicted in beautiful and brightly colored puppets. The kids had a lot of fun on their first field trip (and for some, their first time riding a yellow school bus!). They were also equally impressed with the size of the theater, and how far away we were sitting :)


In the week leading up to the trip, we read lots of Eric Carle books and learned a little bit about how he does his unique illustrations. We especially focused on the book The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse. After talking about how everyone can be an artist, no matter what they create, we created our own wildly colored animal paintings. They're now hanging in our room if you want to come see them!
