Outdoor learning on Forest Friday

Each Friday in our class, we have what's called Forest Friday. Most weeks, we visit our school's mini forest, and sometimes we also visit the school garden, which is in the front yard. During the last few weeks, we have been practicing "looking closely like a scientist," noticing details and drawing them in our science notebooks. We started by going on a nature walk and choosing one item to draw and label in our notebooks. Then we "adopted" the giant maple tree in our front yard, (the kids named him Maple) to observe and study throughout the changing seasons. Here are some pictures of the scientists in action!
