Our last days of kindergarten

What a wonderful end to a wonderful year! I can't believe how quickly the year went by. Here are some pictures of how we ended the school year. Happy summer to all! See you when you are in first grade!

We had a special guest scientist come teach us about chemical reactions! She is the mom of one of our classmates. It was really fun and interactive, and the kids especially loved the "explosions."

Our Big Top Talent Show song was "The Octopus' Garden," so we read books and made paintings about ocean creatures.

We also worked on our end-of-the-year memory books. Here the kids are getting each other's autographs to add to the books:

We spent some more time in the garden. The garden volunteer let them use watering cans which was a big hit, because not only could they water the garden beds - they could also use the water to make mud!

One of the other kindergarten teachers brought out bubbles which were tons of fun.

We also got to go on a trip to the marsh! It was a beautiful day, and we got to hike, pond-dip, and visit several different habitats. We even saw a dead garter snake!

We also visited our Sit Spots in the school forest for the last time. Each season when we visited, we documented what we saw in a "time wheel" (also called a phenology wheel) and the kids finished theirs up by drawing what their Sit Spot looked like in the summertime. I think they turned out so cool!

We also celebrated with families at the end of the year picnic.

On the last day of school my dad came to visit from Chicago! He had been to Canada recently, and gave everyone some Canadian coins to take home, which were a huge hit.

We also spent some time writing goodbye letters to each other, as well as some teachers at school.

And of course read some old-favorites together.

On the last day of school, I asked the kids to think of some advice for how next year's class could be successful in kindergarten. I was so moved by what they came up with all on their own!

Here they are with their kindergarten diplomas. I'm so proud of each of them!

Here is a picture of our whole class together!
